What a pain in the neck!!!

So I have been going to the chiropractor or "spinal rehabilitation" for several weeks now for my neck and lower back. It has helped some but today I work out on all four machines. The one that I turn side to side was very painful!!! It now feels like a 100 lb weight is on my head. lots of pain!!! We'll see how I feels tomorrow.

Life

I started this blog back when I was attending BYU. It was a class assignment and I haven't done anything since. All of a sudden I feel like writing, since I never write in my own journal.
So many things are going on and don't know where to start.

I am now finishing up my first year in teaching. Boy I am glad I am almost done with that hard year. They always say that it gets easier the second go around. Well at that school I will not get a second go around. basically I will most likely be starting from scratch again. I am not looking forward to it. Its hard enough looking for a teaching job in this horrible economy. Budget cuts in education. dropping programs because low enrollment or just because they want to.

Who knows what the Lord has in store for me. I just don't know how much I can hold on when everything happens at once.

The Plans continue

Its interesting how people view directions differently. I will admit I was getting a little frustrated during class because I thought we were supposed to make lesson plans as if we were going to go right then and use them. So when we were discussing the rubric, I felt that we were supposed to use real numbers and not make it vague like some people wanted to do. Of course each teacher can change it but its nice to have something to start out with. Oh well. Its not a big enough think to get mad or frustrated over. anyway The plans are going well. Now I understand how to do the quizzes and use that moodle a little better.

Making lesson plans

Making up these lesson plans is kind of fun. I am afraid of missing something and not making it complete enough that somebody else can follow it. Amanda and I got together to talk about how we will split up the engineering and drafting section. So we were able to make a lot of head way on the lesson plans. Its intereesting at first I didn't like the lesson plan template that we were given. There seems to be so many things that are repetitive for me. But It is pretty throurogh. I am the type that likes to see play by play and so I guess that is one thing that I will add to my own templat. I think if I combine the two then I will get a good plan that will help me make sure that my lesson has a purpose and not just something fun for the kids to do. I think in the future I will research more lesson plan exxamples and templates because I know that the one given to us is not a have to do this or die thing but just ine other example. It will be interesting to see what type of lesson plans examples my sister has. She was a school teacher for 1st grade.

Lesson Planning

Today in class we decided to do a group lesson plan for our last assignment. I think it is going to be very exciting. With the topic that we chose I still get to do CAD stuff. I am excited to learn how to set up a plan that works with many different principles and concepts. We had a good planning session even though it took us a while to get started and have the ideas flow. It was nice how we were able to give our opinion about things and explain why we think other's ideas were good or bad.
We were able to work off of eachother's strengths and come up with an ingenious plan. It is going to turn out good. Now i need to keep thinking about some good lesson plans for my topic of engineering.

Debate of the century

Well the debate turned out to be a little different for me than I thought it would be. Before class, I was opposed to Referendum 1. I went to a public school and thought that they just need to add more money there to make it better. But after understanding about charter schools and private schools my opinion has changed, but only a little. I still don't know how I would vote.
I feel that referendum 1 would be a good thing for charter schools but not necessarily for private. Where the money comes from (without affecting public schools for the first 4 years) and then where it will go after the four years I still don't understand. But, I do believe the public school system needs to be shook up a little.
I still have some more research to do to understand better. And since I am going into that field it does affect me. I need to be more aware of the teaching issues.

Applicable Info

Today's class was really great!!! The information given was something that I feel that will help me in my future career. I think it is important to know how to advance in the teaching career. There is so many different opportunities and if you don't know about them you can't take advantage of them. I am grateful the Geoff taught us the realities of teaching. Because of talking about the steps and lanes (even though not every state is the same), I have been thinking about what education /classes I can take after so that I can go higher on the totem pole.

Also as we were searching for school info with salary schedules and everything, I was wondering how I could get a Spanish certificate or what they classify as bilingual teachers. I know Spanish and am wondering if it will be more beneficial for we to do a minor in Spanish and take longer in my education here or what?

I loved class and am excited to see what all other states offer teachers. I am excited to learn more.
